Fresh, Innovative, AMBITIOUS Filmmakers wanted:
To work in tandem with musicians, artists and fashion designers creating a whole new arts scene throughout the UK. Designing and shooting short films and videos for promotion and use in on- stage work. The end result is working towards gaining experience in the modern media, and creating something tangible and concrete, whilst at the same time creating a truly alternative arts scene.

I suppose by this you mean making shorts about how skate boarding is the in thing, still, and how Bradford is cool, and how punk rock is still in?
Same ol, same ol.
It's fiction for me

it's a shame u think that way, because that would be defeating the point, of doing something new and experimental now wouldn't it!!
for the rest of you who can see past the cynicism of this guy, feel free to email.. remember the accent is on experimental, and different

It's a shame that you had such a bad experience really, because in this case that is not what we are all about.
really this is an artistic exercise: bringing together different artists in different media, not about producing pop videos, although if that's your scene, no one's gonna stop you... But, in a similair way to Exploding Cinema, it gives the chance for Musical artists and Visual artists to collaborate on each others projects, such as for example, but not limited to, abstract background visuals at gigs, DJ nights over silent 8mm film, and also musicians to write music over your films for use at installations ... the possibilities are endless, and the whole idea is NOT to limit your creativity, hence the accent on experimental..

So what would happen if I e-mailed you saying I wanted to get involved?
You'll have to excuse mods, but it doesn't exactly sound like anything one of us couldn't do ourselves.
Is there someone setting this thing up?
Is there someone organising sponsership?
Where in the uk?
I already project images over my band at gigs, who are these avents aimed at.
Who are you?
Why are you doing this?

If you emailed us you would become part of a register of similair artists whose services are available to everyone involved, You would be notified of meetings in your area, which will be to discuss and arrange upcoming shows/exhibitions/gigs and also get everyone the chance to have a drink and meet new artists/show your work.
There is a distribution arm to this, as well, which will be organising releases, in some capacity, whether it be in the form of video release, TV showings, selling video at concerts, or organising for films to be shown at small independant cinema/gigs/clubs/bars/art installations for all artists involved, there will be more details of this on our up and coming website.
Yes, there is someone setting it up.. me! and a few other friends and connections, i currently do work for Carlton Screen advertising (although not on a production side) and have friends who work at the Beeb and NTL. Personally, i'm based in london, although the bands affiliated are based all around the UK, including Glasgow and Manchster: as you can probably guess i come from a more musical background, although i used to shoot films/animations for Art A-level whilst at school, many moons ago!
As far as sponsorship goes, yes and no. I'm hoping to apply for Lottery funding, as well as prince's trust membership, so that i can do this full time. I do want to affiliate myself with various advertising sponsorship, but i want to be wary of becoming a corporate enterprise, and maintaining true independance: in defference to the spirit of the "Zeitgeist" i don't see any point in forming a corporation, but see this as an outlet for leftfield and independant filmmakers, who might gain some experience, make contacts with the movers and shakers of tomorrows artworld, before they move onto bigger (but not nesc. better) things...
Ideologically, at the same time, this is a opportunity to create an artistic unity in direction, if not in subject or form, and to meet other artists in the flesh who we can all help to learn things from, and to improve our own "work".
we've got a website going live in the next couple of weeks which will explain in more depth about what we're trying to achieve, if anything, one reason to be involved is that we are going to try and approach various retail and distribution outlets, and. by sheer weight of numbers enable all involved to be able to get reductions on the materials we need to be able to create our work, so to speak!
PHEW!!!! geddit?

Actually Mods, i'm pretty sure we've got a couple of bands from round that way who you might be able to hook up with.. ! If not, you could always get something going down there yourself.. would be cool to see what kind of stuff you're into!!
